Cuisine for Healing Outreach Food Program

The Cuisine for Healing Outreach Food Program serves qualifying cancer patients in the Tarrant County area. The program offers a selection of fresh, healthy meals that are designed to bolster the immune system, clear the body of toxins and help the body heal faster.

Each recipe meets the Cuisine for Healing certification guidelines and has been researched, tested and customized in order to include nutrients that provide significant health benefits and exclude ingredients that are harmful.

The Cuisine for Healing Outreach Program provides two healthy meals per day for four to eight weeks at no cost to qualifying patients. It includes two fresh meals, prepared by our partner Z’s Café and Catering.

Working with local organizations such as Cancer Care Services, Texas Oncology, Joan Katz Breast Center, JPS Cancer Center, Texas Health Resources Harris Hospital and other area health facilities, the Cuisine for Healing Outreach Food Program, in less than one year of operation, has successfully prepared, packaged and delivered close to 10,000 Cuisine for Healing-Certified meals to home-bound cancer patients.

The need for our services is great. Cancer Care Services of Tarrant County predicts there will be approximately 6000 adults diagnosed with cancer in Tarrant County annually; of those, 15% will be below the poverty level and 25% will not have insurance. Across the U.S., the National Cancer Institute estimates that roughly one-third of all cancer deaths may be diet-related.
