Healthy, Healing Recipes (That Taste Great, too!)
My Favorite Smoothie!
Smoothies are one of the best ways to get good nutrition. They’re easy to make, easy to modify and when you’re not hungry (but need to eat) or are suffering from mouth sores because of chemo or radiation treatments...they feel good on your throat. This is my personal recipe. I might change the juices that I use (depending on what I have on hand) but other than that I make the same one every day and still enjoy them! * Note: Sometimes I have oatmeal topped with Wendy’s Nutmix or a bowl of Total with blueberries or bananas and skim, hormone free, milk.
2 lg scoops nonfat plain organic yogurt
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 c frozen organic blueberries
3-4 frozen strawberries
1/2 c pomegranate juice (or 1/4 pom and 1/4 Acai juice)
scant water
2 T ground flaxseed or flaxseed oil
2 scoops whey protein
Blend in blender. I usually add the protein after blending and then blend again. The smoothie will be very thick due to using all frozen fruit.
